Children Traveling Alone on the Apple Line

All passengers under the age of eight (8) years of age must be accompanied at all times with a passenger who is at least fifteen (15) years of age.

Passengers between the ages of eight (8) years of age through fourteen (14) years of age, inclusive, may travel unaccompanied as a full adult fare if the following conditions are met in their entirety.  If any one of these following conditions are not met, the passenger must be accompanied by a passenger at least fifteen (15) years of age:

  • The passenger's trip must begin and end on the same schedule.  No transfers en route are permitted;
  • The destination station must be a full service agency and not a "drop off" location only. (For the Apple Line, these are Ticket Agencies in Omak, Wenatchee or Ellensburg);
  • The destination station must be open and staffed at the time the passenger is scheduled to arrive;
  • A parent, guardian or legal custodian of the child must complete and sign an Unaccompanied Child Form authorizing the child to make the trip and return this form to the agent on duty at the origination station.  The form will specifically identify and name the person authorizing the trip and the person meeting the child at the destination station, including the telephone number of that person;
  • At the destination station, in order for the passenger to be released, the person named on the Unaccompanied Child form must have and present to the agent a positive picture identification, such as a driver's license or another state issued identification card.  If such identification cannot be produced, the child will not be released and local law enforcement officials or Child Protective Services will be contacted; and
  • An adult fare will be charged for the passenger.
